On Jul 9 2002,US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have approved Neotame as food additive to be used in food and beverages.

As of January 12th, 2010, The European Union authorizes the use of the new intensive sweetener Neotame by the Food and Drink industry (Directive 2009/163/EU), and its E Number is E961.

On March 10 2003,the Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China have approved Neotame as a new sweetener.
